From a year of standstill to Okta live in 30 days

Intergamma manages 400 GAMMA and Karwei DIY stores with more than 12,000 employees. The challenge: efficient access management for an organization with many flex workers, part-timers and high staff turnover.

After a year without results using Microsoft Entra ID, we demonstrated through a Proof of Concept in a single day that it could be done.

The problem: manual access management costs time and money

With many flex workers, part-timers and high staff turnover, manual access management at Intergamma becomes unsustainable. The concrete consequences:

  • Slow onboarding: New employees wait days for access, directly impacting their productivity
  • Unnecessary costs: Access rights of former employees remain active, leading to redundant license costs
  • Overloaded service desk: Constant stream of calls about passwords and access issues

After nearly a year of development with Microsoft Entra ID, results remained elusive. The expected customization and development costs kept rising, while the franchisees were still waiting for a working solution.

One day for what a year could not achieve. We succeeded in demonstrating all crucial use cases within a single day. Where months of development had yielded little, it was now immediately clear what was possible.

Strategic implementation approach The biggest challenge: connecting more than 40 different HR systems from franchisees. Our solution starts with a central scheduling package as the source system for rapid rollout to all 400 DIY stores. The individual HR systems were then connected in phases from the working Okta platform.

The results: immediately measurable impact

Within a month, Okta was running for all 400 DIY stores. The impact:

  • Automated JML processes: New employees are immediately productive, departed employees instantly lose access
  • Cost reduction: No more spending on unused licenses
  • Less IT pressure: Significantly fewer service desk calls for access and passwords
  • Foundation for growth: Platform ready for expansion to Belgium and new applications
